Infrared Saunas at Spa Shiki
Spa Shiki at the Lodge of Four Seasons recently enhanced its facility with the addition of Sunlight Saunas, featuring Solocarbon© far infrared heat technology. Far infrared sauna therapy surrounds the body and penetrates deeply into joints, muscles and tissues, speeding oxygen flow, increasing circulation and detoxifying the body.
A daily session of no more than 30 minutes can remove up to 20 percent of the body’s toxins. Since toxicity is a major cause of disease, by reducing toxic load, saunas help to prevent and reverse diseases of every description.
Infrared Saunas compared to traditional rock saunas …
Conventional saunas offer superficial heat penetration (only a few millimeters). Infrared saunas heat the body rather than the air, resulting in the penetration that is more than one and a half inches deep. This type of heat heals tissue and releases toxins. In one study performed by American researchers, the sweat of people using a conventional sauna was found to be 95 to 97 percent water while the sweat of those using an far infrared thermal system was 80 to 85 percent water with the non-water portion principally cholesterol, fat-soluble toxins, toxic heavy metals (such as mercury and aluminum), sulfuric acid, sodium, ammonia and uric acid.
The temperature in a conventional sauna is 130 to 180 degrees.
The air temperature in an infrared sauna is kept at a comfortable and controllable level of 110 to 120 degrees.

Infrared saunas are found in both the men’s and women’s locker rooms for guests’ privacy and convenience.
