Every Spa Shiki technician and therapist is certified or licensed by law and has achieved American Spa Therapy Education and Certification Council certification. ASTECC education guarantees a comprehensive knowledge of European spa therapies.

Todd Borron, Trainer/Educator and Licensed Massage Therapist

Todd Borron’s career as a massage therapist spans the globe. Employed at Spa Shiki since 2002, he developed and implemented Spa Shiki’s Swedish, deep tissue and hydrotherapy massage protocols that are now used to train all new Spa Shiki therapists. His education includes the Atlanta School of Massage and advanced studies in neuromuscular, cranio-sacral, visceral manipulation, osteopathic manipulation, Brimhall Wellness training, laser training with Dr. Jeff Spencer (Lance Armstrong’s personal physician during his Tour de France victories), kinesiology, acupuncture and Erchonia medical cold laser training. Todd is also a fully trained Pilates instructor.

Todd’s career includes experience at the Hyatt Spa Hilton Head, Topnotch and Stoweflake Resorts in Vermont, the Phoenician Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Az., the Silver Reef Health Spa in the Bahamas, and more. Todd also worked as an international guest Pilates instructor at Reform Studio in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. A native of Kirksville, Mo., Borron holds certificates in Pilates and massage, as well as a bachelor’s degree from Northeast Missouri State University, now Truman State University, in Kirksville.

Carol Schien, Lead Massage Therapist and Esthetician

Carol Schien has served as the lead massage therapist at Spa Shiki since 2006. She became nationally certified in massage 1993 and since that time has also achieved licensing as a nail technician and esthetician. Her advanced education includes training with celebrity makeup artist Lori Neapolitan, who has worked with Sarah Jessica Parker, Oprah Winfrey, Meryl Streep, Nikki Hilton and more. Carol is a past second vice president of the Missouri chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association and she is active in the local Kiwanas Club and helps with the Easter Seals Wing Ding. She finds satisfaction in her job by knowing that she made someone feel better.

Nicole Roberts, Licensed Massage Therapist

Nicole Roberts enjoys the art of bodywork and says it’s a great feeling to help someone feel better. She enjoys her job at Spa Shiki because she gets to treat guests’ individual needs and is able to come to work to relax – she knows if she’s not relaxed, her guest will not be able to relax.

Earning Bachelor of Science degrees in Psychology and Health Education from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, she studied massage therapy at Missouri College. She has received advanced training in hot stone massage, myofascial release (used to help release chronic pain and restore motion), zero balancing (hands-on bodywork used to align the body’s energy and physical structure), lymph drainage (light touch massage used for detoxification and to activate fluid circulation), sports massage, prenatal massage and aromatherapy.

Nicole is active in the community, helping with the Special Olympics and serving as a YMCA camp counselor. She is also a member of the PSI CHI National Honors Society in Psychology, is certified by The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork, and is a DOULA licensed member.

Heather McQuinn, Licensed Massage Therapist

Heather McQuinn has been a licensed massage therapist since 2007. She studied massage at the Education Pinnacle Career Institute in Kansas City, Mo. and previously worked at Allure Massage in Merriam, Kansas and Pamela’s Therapeutic Massage in Eldon, Mo.  She enjoys supporting Spa Shiki’s mission of educating others on the benefits of spa therapy and came into this field to help improve others’ well being.

Jami Nulsen, Licensed Massage Therapist

Jami Nulsen received her massage therapy training at Royal Beauty Careers in Houston, Texas and Metro Business College in Jefferson City, Mo. She has received advanced training in deep tissue, aromatherapy, reflexology and connective tissue massage. She has worked as a massage therapist since 2003. Jami enjoys using her skills to help people feel better. She also likes educating Spa Shiki guests on the benefits of spa treatments and massage.

Jaime Bounds, Licensed Massage Therapist

Working as a massage therapist for the past two years, Jaime Bounds studied the craft at Vatterott for Massage Therapy in Kansas City. Her advanced study include a Kansas City course on infant massage and ASTECC classes on aromatherapy and reflexology. She trained in Chinese cupping massage at the High-Tech Institute in Kansas City. She followed this career path because of a desire to help people, and she enjoys getting to meet new people every day.

Anita Wiley, Licensed Massage Therapist

Anita Wiley has been a massage therapist since 2007. She studied at Allied Medical College in Fenton, Mo. and has been at Spa Shiki since 2008. She chose massage therapy as a career because of the ability to help relieve pain for other people. She enjoys the variety of people she encounters at Spa Shiki and the variety of treatments she gets to perform.

Zoe Marion, Licensed Massage Therapist

Zoe Marion studied massage therapy at Heritage College in Kansas City and has been active in the industry since 2007. She has donated her time for the local Hope House emergency aid center and food pantry and Relay for Life, as well as the Women’s Health Fair in Kansas. She loves how massage therapy helps people connect mind, body and spirit. She previously worked at Tara Day Spa in Rolla, Mo.

Shara Garner

Shara Garner has been a licensed massage therapist since 2008, following education at the Professional Massage Training Center in Springfield, Mo. Prior to working at Spa Shiki, she was employed at Essentials Salon Spa and Tanning. She is active in the community, supporting the Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society. What she enjoys the most about her job? Helping to create a stress-free environment for others.
